How the Government can Back Beauty in the Autumn Statement
16 November 2016
Ahead of the Chancellor’s Autumn Statement on November 23rd, we outline what the Government can do to put beauty front and centre across ten different policy areas.
We are calling on the Government to adopt a range of proposals, ranging from additional community powers in the housebuilding process to new powers for local authorities to fund public realm improvements, which we believe will tangibly improve the aesthetic quality of people’s surroundings and make it easier for everyone, regardless of income or location, to access beauty in the built and urban environment. We also want to see acknowledgement of public concern over the future of public parks and action to make good on the recent rhetoric from the Transport Minister calling for beauty to be prioritised in the construction of new infrastructure.
